As with all dermal fillers, it's important to carry out aftercare once the procedure has been done. This is crucial to prevent infections and any skin . You should expect some swelling, redness, tenderness and bruising to the area after the procedure.


These side effects are only temporary and should wear off within a few hours or the next day.


After the treatment, try to refrain from touching the area as it can damage the filler or cause infections, and the area will be incredibly sensitive immediately after the treatment.


After the procedure, stay away from heat sources as it can cause further unnecessary swelling, which can be painful. It is also important not to exert yourself in any high-intensity exercise. It is ideal to temporarily postpone exercise and activities that being in or near heat sources, such as saunas.

The time it can take to complete a lip filler treatment can vary depending on the amount of lip filler needed. The more lip filler used, the longer the procedure can take. Ordinarily, the procedure takes around 5-30 minutes.


Choosing to have lip fillers during pregnancy is not recommended as they have not been tested on pregnant women just yet. This means that we do not know if it would be safe to carry out this treatment. The NHS advises against having muscle-relaxing procedures such as botox during pregnancy, which is why we do not carry out similar treatments on pregnant women.

As lip fillers are not to be touched after the treatment, it is best to avoid smoking for around 24 hours. Once this time is up, it is entirely okay to do so. Smoking 24 hours after lip fillers should not cause any harm or infections.


Painful side effects should wear off within a few hours or the next day. The volume of lip filler used will impact how much your lips swell. Side should wear off completely within two weeks.


Applying a cold compress to the area is easiest to bring down swelling after lip filler. This can also alleviate any pain you are still experiencing and minimise inflammation by a considerable amount. Avoid heat sources and exercise as they can the swell of your lips.


You should refrain from drinking after having lip for 24 hours, as we recommend with smoking, as the area will be sensitive. After these 24 hours, consuming alcohol is safe. Be aware that alcohol can thin the blood and therefore can increase swelling and bruising of the lips. If you feel this is bearable, feel free to have a drink!


It is safe to eat after lip filler treatments if numbing cream has not been used. If numbing cream has been applied, you should wait until the cream has worn off. It may not be safe to eat with numb lips as it may cause you to choke. Easy foods are recommended, such as ice cream, which can help soothe the lips.
